The rhythm of rain
drumming on leaves,
cooling the parched garden;
damp earth scent rising.
Drumming on leaves,
beading on my skin,
damp earth scent rising,
dripping from my hair.
Beading on my skin,
soaking my clothes,
dripping from my hair.
Clap and rumble of thunder.
Soaking my clothes,
cooling the parched garden;
clap and rumble of thunder,
the rhythm of rain.
Prompt: Carry on Tuesday “These are a few of my favorite things.”
This is so gorgeous! I love the cadence, and utter the sensuality of it.
*the utter sensuality. Oops.
Thank you! It’s written in my favorite form.
You can hear the pitter-patter in your words. Delightful.
Nicely done – it has the rhythm of steady rain.
beautifully written. I love the rain and I could feel it through your words on my skin.
Great poetry wonderful and so beautifully described rain! Does this form of poetry has a name or any rules? I’d love to know 😉
The form is called a pantoum. There is a link to the prompt describing the rules on my previous poem The Garden Gate.
Oops. The poem is called Breakfast at Grass Valley. Memory fail. 😉
Yes thank you very much. I see it now 😀
The modulation was like the drumming of a soaking rain…..very lovely
I always trip over this form and am left with a feeling of having written in circles. However, your pantoum is just gorgeous.
